The December 9 FAMSF gala served as a gathering point for San Francisco’s civic and business communities. More than 220 guests attended the black-tie celebration at the Legion of Honor, where Honorary Chair Diane Wilsey presided over an evening dedicated to supporting museum programming.

The guest list featured overlapping networks of cultural, civic, and business leadership that characterize San Francisco’s philanthropic community. Attendees brought diverse professional backgrounds unified by shared commitment to sustaining public arts institutions.

Civic and Cultural Figures in Attendance

California Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis and former San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown attended the evening’s festivities. Paul Pelosi joined the celebration alongside arts philanthropists George and Judy Marcus and San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock.

JP Conte was photographed with Kathryn Lasater, Darius Himes, Carol Bonnie, and other prominent figures. The guest list included FAMSF trustees Max Boyer Glynn and David and Mary Beth Shimmon, who serve in the museum’s governance alongside its broader supporter community.

The Gala’s Purpose

Proceeds from the evening support FAMSF’s mission to connect visitors with art through accessible programs. The organization serves Bay Area communities through exhibitions at both the Legion of Honor and de Young museums, alongside educational initiatives reaching diverse audiences.

The Legion of Honor’s centennial year programming has featured exhibitions including Wayne Thiebaud retrospectives and the current “Manet & Morisot” show. The December gala continued celebrations that will conclude with a Yinka Shonibare exhibition planned as the final centennial presentation.
