How to Improve Your Self-Confidence

If you looked at it from the outside in, it might seem like Americans are the most confident people in the world. That’s what the rest of the world perceives Americans as.

Do you feel though that you are the exception to the rule? Do you feel diffident and uncomfortable in new situations, hiding away in the corner, or behaving like a wallflower? Don’t worry – there are some easy ways to boost your self-confidence. Keep reading to find out what they are.

Focus on How Far You’ve Come and What You’ve Already Done

Are you too harsh on yourself? If you have poor self-confidence, you probably don’t cut yourself any slack. That’s why you need to go back and look at your history.

Consider how far you’ve already come in this journey called life. You’ve already accomplished so much, despite not believing in yourself. Can you imagine how much further you could go if you actually believed in yourself?

Realize that you wouldn’t have come all this way if you didn’t have a lot of great qualities that helped you along the way. Make an inventory of all those wonderful qualities and pump yourself up whenever you feel down, by telling yourself what you are good at (rather than what you are terrible at).

Try Out New Activities or Hobbies That Would Normally Scare You

This is how to build self-confidence and have fun at the same time. Think of an activity or hobby that you would normally run away from. It could be something as drastic as joining Toastmasters or doing Improv. Or if you are afraid of swimming, it could be taking swimming lessons at koalaswim.com

If you are serious about building self-confidence, then you need to think outside of your comfort zone. It’s time to shine in ways that you never thought possible before.

Do the Mirrorwork Exercise and Talk Yourself Up

This is a great way to boost your self-confidence. Get in front of a mirror every single day and start telling yourself how great you are. It might seem silly at first and you might feel like a fool for even trying.

But if you could just do this for a few minutes every single day, you will notice how your confidence in yourself will rise like a balloon. You will even start loving this time in front of the mirror. Go you!

Self-Confidence Takes Time to Build Up

You need to realize that building self-confidence takes time. It’s not as simple as starting today and being confident tomorrow. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your self-confidence levels.

Keep at it, though, and soon you will be surprised at how different you feel in the same circumstances that used to scare the bejesus out of you earlier.
