Malware Attacks You Must Be Careful About!

Malware which is also known as malicious software is yet another term for viruses, Trojans, and other such programs that are harmful for computer programs. Hackers make use of these malicious software to harm and gain access to your sensitive information. Since we visit multiple sites daily, we come across such viruses and malware almost every day. So we need to be aware of how these malicious software work and what are their different types. We shall thus take a glance at the most common forms of malware and how to stay protected from such malware attacks

  • Worms

This is one of the most common forms of malware. It spreads over the computer system and multiplies itself, only to affect another computer system, without requiring any action from anyone. So a worm is a standalone program that can replicate itself and one needs to be able to detect this malware infection.

  • Virus

A virus is a piece of computer code that inserts itself into the code of another standalone program, thereby forcing that computer program to take malicious actions and spreading itself.

  • Trojan

A Trojan is a malicious software, which wouldn’t replicate itself but will pose as something that the user wants or gets attracted to, and then tricks them into activating it.

Following, are a few coming malware attacks one needs to know

  • Spyware: What spyware does is it spies on your data that you send and receive and hence your behavior with an intention to send it to a third party. Spyware can easily steal passwords as well.
  • Adware: It is malware that forces your browser to redirect to web advertisements. These advertisements then try to auto-download themselves. Such ads are in fact more harmful as they try to download even more harmful software.
  • Malvertising: What happens here is that a cybercriminal may pay for placing an advertisement on a legitimate, reliable website. When the user clicks on such ads, the page is redirected to a malicious website or malicious software gets auto-download. It is thus the use of a legitimate website to deliver malware to several users.

Conclusion

The cases of such malware attacks have significantly risen over the years. With the number of users using the internet, there is an immediate need to know the types of malware and the kind of attacks we might face.
